theFashionSpot is excited to announce our third annual tFS Style Awards, recognizing exceptional contributions to fashion in 2015.
The details:
Nominations will be determined exclusively by tFS forum members. In the month of October, forum members can nominate their favorites in each of the categories by visiting the corresponding threads. From these nominations, the moderators and tFS staff will narrow down the list to 5 finalists per category.
In November,we will open up voting on the finalists to all tFS forum members and tFS readers via a ballot on the tFS homepage. The winners will be announced on the site in December.
How to Nominate Candidates for Consideration:
Each tFS member may nominate up to two candidates in this category by posting their choices in this thread. Please observe the following thread rules:
Only one post per member.
Nomination posts must have the nominee name(s) first - any reasoning or commentary must be in a separate paragraph, below the nominee names. If you are nominating two candidates, please put their names on separate lines.
All tFS Community Rules are in effect; be respectful.

Hi,
I am putting together a comprehensive report on the business of fashion and that includes models who have influenced the industry. I have lots of information on the 80/early 90's girls (the supers) and the mid 90's girls (Kate/Amber/Shalom). I am looking for a a but more information on the girls who rose to prominence of the late 90's. From what I know the girls would include Carmen Kass, Angela Lindvall, Alek Wek, Maggie Rizer and Gisele Bundchen. I'm not sure if I would group someone like Carolyn Murphy in with the Amber generation or the Carmen generation. I'd love some feedback on if you think these girls fit this era along with a quick explanation of your feelings. I'll definitely credit you for your help and hopefully I can publish the entire report. If there are any girls after say Carolyn but before Karolina and Natalia to come of prominence, I'd love to know about them too.

We might be a little late in starting this but let the fun begin! 😁🎅🏻
Daniellat greatly explained the concept and rules of the game last year, so here they are again ^_^' I changed the few details that pertain to this year's round (aka email address and deadline to participate)
Now let's spread the word about secret Santa #12, and get excited for the holiday season! :-D
For the newbies:
WHAT SECRET SANTA IS
A holiday gift exchange between TFSers just for fun. It's for everybody, not just those who celebrate Christmas, but we do refer to the gift givers in Christmas-y terms but it's not religion related. Santas are the gift givers and the elves are the receivers of the gift. Everyone gives and receives a gift. The elves are selected at random.We do allow preferences like if you want a guy or girl, within your country/state, a close country, or international. If there is some specific other preference, we try our best to accomodate it, please dont forget to add that kind of information to your submission.
IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN
1. Send an email to 12thsecretsanta@gmail.com .Don't forget to add ALL your information. Real name, tFS username, full address and preferences for the elves.
2. Unless you receive a confirmation email, you're not officially in.
RULES
Join only if:
- You can commit to it. If for any reason you need to bail out send us an email, or PM castorpollux or me asap. It's not that hard. To see if when can pair your elf to someone else.
Don't even think about it if:
- You are only joining to get a gift or you joined on previous years but failed to send the present. We keep a tab on naughty members
- You are not a tFS member, obviously. OR if you are a new member, we need you to have good posting cred. This is to prevent scammers.
Gifts can be anything and there is not a price minimum or limit. Think of the person you're giving it to and what they love and you'll always end up with a gift they will love. And most of all try to do it for the fun of doing something special for somebody else.
HOW TO DISCOVER DETAILS ABOUT YOUR ELF
1. Look up their posts! See what things they like.
2. If that doesn't help or you have specific questions, you can PM castorpollux and I we'll be glad to redirect your questions to your elf.That is the coolest part, knowing you are being investigated, lol. Sometimes people ask the most random things to confuse the heck out of their elves. IT'S FUN.
3. There's a very simple questionnaire in the hints thread and that helps to give more information about yourself to your santa. Be sure to post there as soon as you can! :-)

SENDING OUT ELVES- NOVEMBER 9 2015.
CHECK YOUR TFS inbox on a regular basis! There might be questions from your santa to answer to give them ideas to get you the most meaningful gift they can get so please check. It affects when you get your gift because your santa could be waiting for you to respond. Also if the gift is late your santa might want to send you a note.
Also take in mind that it's a busy season so try to ship your gift ahead of time.
Please note that tFS has nothing to do with this. It's something us members do just to have fun. So Have Fun!
We take this pretty seriously, and as I mentioned above we keep track of all members who have joined in previous years. This is a little group of people who like to spread the joy and do nice things for one another, and most of us have been doing this for quite a while. Therefore, we reserve the right to accept/decline submissions.

Resuscitate Helmut Lang?
One week ago, I went to the Helmut Lang store in Paris, and I was surprised to see how disappointing the clothes were. This brand is now sort of a joke, making faux minimalism with boring aesthetics, the pieces are no longer original, inventive, and it's been 10 years since Helmut Lang left...
Katayone Adeli and Alexandre Plokhov are now creative directors and they are talented but I feel like they are heading in the wrong direction, no one cares about Lang now while he was a precursor and most designers always have an old Helmut Lang piece in their offices to get inspired ( this is what many many rumors say and I think this is right ), and this is sad.
IMO, if Helmut Lang goes back and designs even a few pieces to show during some new " Séances de Travail " or in the Paris store ( which is always empty ), while Plokhov and Adeli follow his steps and create more " Helmut Lang-inspired " pieces, it would greatly help the label.
What would you do to resuscitate Helmut Lang ?
