Elie Saab isnt afraid of grandeur; naturally, neither is his bride. The designers debut wedding collection yielded a lineup of 27 styles glamorous enough to make any brides trip down the aisle feel like a spin on the red carpet. Heavily embellished frocksboth long and shortreinforced Saabs more-is-more aesthetic, but for wedding season, he used a light touch through lace, dotted tulle, and silk chiffon hinting at skin. Drawing upon the sort of silhouettes that have made him a favorite of Taylor Swift, Ciara, and Sarah Jessica Parker, the designer offered reinterpretations of signature pieces including his streamlined jumpsuit, amping up the feminine factor through a floral-embroidered bodice and sheer sleeves. Accessories, too, played a role; seen here were veils, coordinating headbands (some sprinkled with Swarovski crystals), and clutchesincluding one made from snow white mink. The Lebanese designer also offered four shoe styles, among them a bow-accented flat and lace peep-toe bootie. The unifying element to the collection was the attention to detail: From the artfully placed plumes on the feather bolero to the intricate beadwork on a tulle peasant blousestyle overshirt, the Saab bride will be ready for her close-up. |

NEW YORK, United States — After months of speculation, Calvin Klein creative directors Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli are leaving the company, as part of a new global creative strategy, unifying all Calvin Klein brands under one creative vision. “This creative strategy marks the beginning of another significant chapter in Calvin Klein’s brand legacy since Mr. Klein’s retirement,” chief executive Steve Shiffman said in a statement. “I would like to thank Francisco and Italo for their unwavering commitment to the Calvin Klein brand and their accomplishments over the past decade. They have both contributed immensely to making Calvin Klein a global leader in the fashion industry, and they have done so with dedication, focus and creativity.” According to a statement released by the company, “A new brand direction will ultimately follow one creative vision across all categories of the business. An announcement will be made in due course.” |

The Rows Pre-Fall collection ships to stores on May 1, just as spring is finally starting to take root on the East Coast. When it was presented back in the depths of January, its multi-ply ribbed cashmere pants, generously proportioned wraps, and sheared furs seemed fairly irresistible. Reviewing the pictures nowlike a handful of other designers, The Rows Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen opted not to distribute them at the time of the appointment, the idea being to prevent customer fatiguethe clothes appear as elegant and rich as they did then, but somewhat out of synch with the seasons. The best outfit in the brands exquisitely shot lookbook (model Katrin Thormann looks straight out of a Renaissance painting) is a white slip dress with a deep ruffle at the hem worn with a button-down boasting of-the-moment pushed-up, puffed sleeves. Lovely and weather-appropriate. The labels New York store, its second boutique after Los Angeless Melrose Place, opens for business next month. What seems guaranteed to do well there is the Olsens new shoe line. After dabbling in cobbler-made loafers and mules for a couple of years, the designers have launched a full-fledged footwear collection, and theres a lot of enthusiasm for it. When it was posted, an iPhone snap of their white croc ankle boots with mother-of-pearllike heels became one of Vogue Runways most-liked Instagrams. |
