As a fashion enthusiast, I passionately follow the latest happenings. Whether that be the more analytical business side or the more creative, trending side - I am always reading up on business of fashion, wsj, t magazine, the cut, whowhatwear, refinery29, blogs, it girl instagrams, you name it...

over the past few months I have really been seeing Los Angeles gain speed as a prominent fashion player.

luxury designers like rodarte, hedi slimane, john galliano, are stationed out west along side emerging(ish) designers such as clover canyon, elder statesman, band of outsiders, current/elliot.

moreover, heavy social media based brands i.e. nasty gal , luvaj, kelly wrestler, rachel zoe + blogs like whowhatwear, refinery29, stopitrightnow, cupcakes and cashmere, fashion toast, etc are all located out west.

designers launching flagships left and right ie isabel marant, tommy hilfiger with celine, kenzo, the kooples, + rag&bone all in progress. Even fast fashion stores zara and topshop, sandro are posting up shop in a major way...

there has also been a huge flux of fashion parties with fashionistas like derek blasberg and emily weiss heading out west more frequently (see instagram)

obviously, the chances of paris and new york being overthrown in high-end luxury fashion is slim to none, but I truly believe LA is carving itself a niche in this new age of internet/blogger/tech + fashion.

what do you guys think? is LA fashion picking up speed or this is a fleeting moment?
